Obituary of Rosalind MacDonald
MacDONALD: On Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the London Health Sciences Centre Victoria Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Rosalind “Roz” Janet (Brockie) MacDonald, of Grand Bend, was peacefully called to continue her journey, at the age of 71.
Roz is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Charles MacDonald; daughter, Rachel Kim, Rachel’s husband, George Kim, and grandchildren, Maya and Isaac Kim; brother, Dave Brockie, nephew, Kurt Brockie, Dave’s partner, Andrea Lyons, and Andrea’s daughter, Alexandra Lyons; and her Cape Breton and Germany family. Roz brought love into the lives of many and she will be dearly missed.
Roz was born in Montreal in 1952 to James Russell and Joyce Braid (Wallace) Brockie. She married Charles on July 21, 1973 in Ottawa. As a military family, Roz, Charles, and Rachel traveled and lived in many places. Post-military, she followed her love of travel and exploration around the world with Charles. She was a proud banker and worked more than 30 years with Scotia Bank. Roz had a strong love of learning that she fostered throughout her life, starting at Queen’s University. Later in life, her faith called her to continue her learning at the Atlantic School of Theology. She was appointed to be the Lay Pastoral Minister and her work in ministry touched many lives. In everything that she did, Roz always brought faith and heart.
The MacDonald family would like to thank everyone who has helped us through this painful journey. With special thanks to nurses Kaitlyn and Fallon from SE Health, Dr. Welch and the team at the Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer, and nurses Karlee and Joanna and the entire Palliative Care Team at Victoria Hospital.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 498, Grand Bend on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer (https://lhsf.ca/inspiring-story/baker-centre-pancreatic-cancer), Wounded Warriors Canada (https://woundedwarriors.ca/donate/), or a charity of your choice.
