Obituary of William Bruce Peat
PEAT: Suddenly, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, on Thursday, July 31, 2003, W. Bruce Peat, of Southcott Pines, Grand Bend, in his 70th year. Treasured husband of Dorothy Peat. Loved father of David and Carol Peat of Owen Sound, Leslie Peat and Barry Malpage of London, Dan and Lorri Morley of Grand Bend and Shari Morley of Burlington. Proud grandfather of Logan, Spencer, Lexis and Jordan. Dear brother of Marguerite McLeod of Exeter and Elizabeth Peat of Port McNicoll. Loved nephew of Margaret Thomson of Hamilton. Dear brother-in-law of Clayt and Mary Brock of Elora, Don and Joyce Masnica of Sebright, John and Sandra Ulch of Kirkton, Fred and Donna Brock of Kitchener, Arn and the late Judy Westelaken of Camlachie, Rob and Julie Dickey of Exeter. Also remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Robert “Bob” (1983) and Elizabeth (Thomson) (1994) Peat. Bruce was a former owner of Smith-Peat Roofing and made tremendous contributions to the roofing industry as president of both Ontario and Canadian Roofing Associations. Bruce also contributed to the community of Grand Bend through his work with the Probus Club and Grand Bend Cruising Club. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed travelling. Through his lust for life, he touched many hearts. His integrity, generosity and caring were never ending. At Bruce’s request, his body has been donated for Research to the Department of Anatomy, University of Western Ontario, London. Please join his family to celebrate his life at a memorial service to be held in the Terrace Room at the Oakwood Inn Resort and Golf, Grand Bend, on Monday, August 4, 2003 at 1 p. m.
