Obituary of BERTHA MARGARET KEYES

KEYES: Peacefully, at St. Marys Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, on Sunday, March 29, 2015, Bertha “Bertie” Margaret (Britton) Keyes, of Seaforth Manor, Seaforth, formerly of Grand Bend, in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Keyes (1986). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Carman Keyes of Kemptville, LeRoy and Elsie Keyes of Grand Bend and Patricia Keyes of London. Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey (Lisa) Keyes, Ted (Lori) Keyes, Tom (Cynthia) Keyes, Jane (Chris) Northey, Tim (Susanna) Keyes, Scott (Linda) Keyes, Susan Keyes and step-grandmother of Kim (Rick) McGuire, Shawna (Sean) James. Treasured great-grandmother of many. Remembered by her loving nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents John and Helah (Harris) Britton, son Robert “Jack” Keyes (2003), daughter-in-law Joan Keyes (2006), sisters Myra Britton, Muriel Hunter, Marie Salton, brothers Carman, Herb and LaVern Britton. Bob and Bertie owned and operated West End Sunoco in Mitchell for over 30 years, Bertie and her family were long time custodians at the Grand Bend Public School. She was a member of the Grand Bend U.C.W., Grand Bend Seniors, the Women’s Institute and the Horticultural Society. At Bertie’s request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Egmondville United Church, 26 Kippen Rd, Egmondville on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. with visitation commencing at 10 a.m. Her nephew Rev. Nick Vandermay Officiating assisted by Pastor Steve Hildebrand. Arrangements entrusted to T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) made to L.H.S.C. – Neurology Department, Huron Shores United Church (Grand Bend) or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
