ARMSTRONG: Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, at Veterans Care Unit, Parkwood Hospital, London on Friday, February 21, 2014, William “Bill” James Armstrong, of Grand Bend formerly of London, age 90. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Theresa (Quinn) Armstrong (1987). Loved father and father-in-law of Laurie Lee and Steve Spillman of Yadkinville, NC, Elizabeth Ann and Randy Street of Forest. Cherished grandpa of Chase, Jennifer (Justin), Ashley (Ray), Cody, April (Bobby) and Rena (Bobby). Treasured great-grandpa of Malach, Maci, Jaiden, Caleb, September, Icelyn, Oliver, Zeke, Neveah, Kaitlyn and Eli. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Helen Dykeman, Kathleen Stevenson, Bob and Betty Armstrong all of London and remembered by the Quinn Family. Cherished friend of Herta Traub of Grand Bend. Predeceased by his parents Alfred James and Alena Pearl (Coleman) Armstrong and sister Carrie Kirkwood. Bill will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Bill was enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of 17 and served for 4.5 years as an aircraft electrician with the 437 Husky Squadron. He was the Chief Engineer at CPRI for 24 years and was referred to as “The Chief”. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. and then to Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, London for Monday evening visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas St., E. (at Wavell St), London, on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. Chaplain Dawn Dyer Officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if desired memorial donations (payable by cheque) may be made to the Heart and Stroke or the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
