Obituary of Elena Giovanna Nirta

NIRTA: An earthly angel left us today. After a short courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the love of her family on March 4, 2012, Elena Giovanna (Rui) Nirta went to be with her heavenly family above. Beloved wife of Vincenzo “Vince” Nirta. Loved mother of Lucio “Lou” and Maggie Nirta of Parkhill, Giuseppe “Joe” and Nanette Nirta of Rochester, Michigan, Christina and Steve Bull of Dundas. Loving nonna of Alicia, Sara, Matthew, Lia, Daniel and Allison. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Ottone and Milietta Rui of Italy, Lina and Basilio Zabrieszach of Australia, Dora Rui and Teresa Rui both of Italy. Remembered by her nieces and nephews and the Nirta families in Canada and Italy. Predeceased by her brother Luigi Rui, parents Teodoro and Emilia (Bernardi) Rui and niece Giuliana Rui. Elena was a proud member of the Mount Carmel CWL for 33 years and recently received the CWL Maple Leaf Service Award for outstanding contribution and commitment. Those who were honoured to know Elena can attest to her unselfish giving to others and her fierce love of her children and grandchildren. Her love of bringing people together to celebrate with wonderful meals, laughs and conversation have touched many lives. Her love for gardening was contagious and many of us enjoy the benefits from her green thumb. She has given us so many wonderful memories, her spirit will be with us always. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, with visitation Wednesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. CWL prayers at the Funeral Home Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. and family and parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Father Len Desjardins Celebrant. Interment Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Elena’s wishes were donations to one of the following centres: My Sisters’ Place of London, Community Living of London or Covenant House of Toronto. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Lam and Paramed Nurse Katie Page for their compassionate care of Elena.
