Obituary of Vincenzo Nirta
NIRTA, Vincenzo: With heavy hearts we say goodbye to Dad, Nonno, Vincenzo“Vince” Nirta, of Parkhill and formerly of McGillivray Township who passed at Strathroy Hospital on Monday, January 6, 2025 - a few months shy of his 92nd birthday. Joining his beloved wife Elena (2012), he will be greatly missed by his children Lou (Maggie), Joe (Shelly) and Christina (Steve), and by his grandchildren Alicia, Sara (Brad), Matthew, Lia, Daniel and Allison. Remembered fondly by his surviving sisters-in-law, and by nieces and nephews of the Nirta and Rui families in Canada, Italy and Australia. A decision to relocate to Canada in his early 30’s was not easy, but he and Elena found their way, providing their children all the opportunities not available to them. A life as a brick and stone mason, and keeping large gardens, kept Vince physically strong to his last years. His large hands were full of strength to his final days. Known for his smile, love of wrestling, and his automatic ‘ya’. He enjoyed people and observing their goings-on. Happiest when sharing a good meal and a glass of red wine with family and friends. Working his garden in spring, summer and fall, we all reaped the rewards of what he nurtured and grew. Cuba became his winter escape each year, spending birthdays in the sun with many wonderful people. As per Vince’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Private family Interment in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family will host a Celebration of Life open to anyone who would like to share with us a story about our Dad, Nonno, Vince, “Vinny”, “The Vincenz”. A casual gathering will take place Saturday, February 1st, 2025 at the Caradoc Sands Golf Course, 24500 Saxton Rd, Strathroy, between 1 - 4 pm. If desired, a donation to Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital would be appreciated. Over the years, Vince had received treatment and wonderful care from numerous doctors and nurses here. They are building a new MRI suite which will benefit numerous surrounding small communities. Alternatively please consider a donation to a community hospital of your choice.
