Bill worked at Dashwood Industries for 21 years and then spent 20 years with Northlander Industries. When the kids were young, he liked watching their various sporting events and scorekeeping for the Dashwood Tigers. After their retirement, he and Elaine enjoyed travelling and spending as much time with family as possible. In his free time, Bill would volunteer doing Arc Angels donation pickups. He also spent countless hours in his shed, listening to country music while turning old pieces of wooden family history into prized pieces for our homes. Bill took great pride in his garden and could often be found relaxing on the porch or back deck with Elaine, enjoying the fruits of his labours. He was a fisherman and looked forward to his annual fishing trips with friends. Bill took great pleasure singing in the church choir.
At his request, Bill was cremated and the visitation will be held at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The memorial service will be at Zion Lutheran Church, Dashwood on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11 a.m., with Rev. John E. Trembulak III officiating. After which, he will be interred at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Dashwood. ** Due to family sensitivities they ask that those attending the visitation and memorial service respectfully refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, body spray, etc. Thank you.
Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Queensway and Exeter Villa for the excellent care shown to Bill and our family during his time there. We would also like to thank Dr. Lam for her compassionate care throughout the years, the Alzheimer’s Society for their helpful programs and support and Dr. McLean and the emergency staff at the South Huron Hospital for their wonderful care and bedside manner shown to all of us during Bill’s brief time there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (payable directly) to the Alzheimer’s Society, the Zion Lutheran Church in Dashwood or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
