Obituary of Gail Dianne Smith
SMITH: Peacefully, surrounded by family, at Jessica’s House Residential Hospice, Exeter on Saturday, June 29, 2024, Gail Dianne Smith of Huron Park, age 74. Beloved partner of late Jerome Keffer (2016) and George Robson (1975). Loved mother and mother-in-law of Tim and Trina Smith of Exeter, JoeyLea Smith and Jeff Horner of Huron Park. Step-mother to Sharlene Keffer and Shane Smith of Waterloo. Very cherished Nana of Brooke (Jake), Danielle (Ian), Brianna (Mike), Paige (Matt), Hank and Clay. Step-grandmother of Cameron, Keegan and Wyatt. Treasured by her great-grandchildren Hailey, Isabelle and the soon to be Sophia. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Lois Gropp, Ross (Penny) Smith, Philip (Kathy) Keffer, Paul Keffer, John (Linda) Keffer, Thelma Marshall, Leyda Mae Molnar. Sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Predeceased by her parents Earl Smith (1985) and Mary (Hyatt) Smith (2018), siblings and in-laws Earl Austin Smith (2012), Linda Smith (2013), Samuel Jim Marshall (1996), Forbes Robson (1971), Len Keffer, Kaye Keffer, Don Keffer and Nona Keffer. Gail was a very strong, hardworking, independent woman. She made many friends over the years. She was a bartender in Listowel and Hensall, factory jobs in Huron Park and Bird packaging in London. She loved her cats and always called her bestfriend of 60+ years Pearl, in British Columbia, every week for many years until she got sick. Gail is going to be sadly missed by all. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. At Gail’s request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, time and location to be announced. Arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood. Our Family wishes to express our sincere thanks to L.H.S.C. – Victoria Hospital, Dr. J. Jadd and the doctors, nurses and staff at Jessica’s House for the kindness and compassion shown to us throughout mom’s time there. In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to Jessica’s House Residential Hospice, Exeter would be greatly appreciated by the family.
