June was born and raised in Goderich and met her husband Jim when he came there to work and play hockey for the Louzon Flyers. After their first child was born, they moved to Dashwood and started a Car Service business and raised their family. June was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, helped to found a bridge club as well as community events. In 1971, they moved back to Goderich to open Jim Hayter Chev-Olds. June was an assistant in the office administration, always supporting her husband in his work and political endeavours. June was an enthusiastic member with the Lioness Club of Goderich and a foundation member of Berea-By-The-Water Lutheran Church. With her husband, they enjoyed the Clinton Square Dancers, many trips with friends and especially their winter home in Florida. June always put her family first and loved to visit with her grand and great-grandchildren. In her last few years she enjoyed her stay at Harbourhill Retirement Home and most recently at the Exeter Villa. She always said how kind the people were there. She received excellent care at the South Huron Hospital, Exeter in her last days. Her doctors and nurses were nothing but the best! Her family is most grateful! If desired, memorial donations (payable directly) to South Huron Hospital Foundation, Exeter; Berea-By-The-Water Lutheran Church, Goderich or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
