Obituary of Rory O'Kane

O’KANE: Suddenly and unexpectedly, at his residence, on Friday, September 29, 2023 Gregory “Rory” James O’Kane of Grand Bend formerly of Waterloo, age 58.  Forever loved son of Patrick “Paddy” O’Kane (Leslie) of Bayfield and the late Maura (nee Kane) (2007) O’Kane. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Colette and Scott Schneider, Stephen and Lisa O’Kane, Kristine Bauman all of Kitchener. He will be sorely missed by his nieces and nephews Rian O'Kane Schneider (Jess), Dan O'Kane Schneider (Sara) and Jordy Schneider (Cass); Shaun O'Kane and Taylor O'Kane; Bradley Bauman (Lauren), Christopher Bauman (Emily) and Jesse Bauman (Shania) and Sienna Bauman. He will be greatly missed by his great-nieces and nephews Braeden, Maddie, Brooklyn, Hudson, Jack, Waverly, Teagan and Isla and many aunts, uncles, cousins and their families in Kitchener, Guelph, California and Ireland. Predeceased by his infant niece Courtney Lauren Bauman. At his family’s request, cremation has taken place.  Local arrangements entrusted to the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood.  Rory was a passionate sports fan and loved his Philadelphia Flyers. For over 30 years, Rory was a fixture as a player and umpire in the National Slow Pitch Association. He also D.J'd various events throughout the years and loved music. He enjoyed summers golfing and loved his dogs.  Rory's family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.  For those unable to attend please join the family via livestream at ­­https://www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
