Obituary of Douglas George Riddell

RIDDELL, Douglas George – formerly of Grand Bend, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at Jessica’s House Residential Hospice, Exeter, on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Betty Louise Riddell (nee Whaling) (2003).   Cherished father of Steven Riddell (Ilona) and Sandra and Ian Reid. Loving grandpa of Maddison, Mitchell and Rose Riddell (Noah), Stuart and Sydney Reid.  Doug is also survived by his brother Jack, sisters-in-law Anita Riddell, Leone Riddell and Donna Whaling and remembered by his former daughter-in-law Susan Riddell.  Son of the late Wm. Keith Riddell (1970) and Dorothy Belle (nee Spong) (1990), Doug was also predeceased by twin sisters Dorothy Jean (1930) and Beth King (2001) and in-laws Jerry King, Peg and Irv Heimpel, Sally and Bill Steinburg, Frank and Anne Whaling, Bill and Helen Whaling and Len Whaling. Doug will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Lam, the staff at the Exeter Villa and Jessica’s House for their incredible care. At Doug’s request, cremation has taken place.  A Private Family Interment Service will be held at the St. Marys Cemetery, St. Marys. A Celebration of Life for Friends and Family on Sunday, August 20, from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Best Western Plus the Arden Park Hotel, 522 Ontario Street, Stratford. Arrangements entrusted to the T.
