I have often thought of Gloria and Simon after my summers at HCP. I was recently separated from my wife when Gloria offered me a job building sets for the summer in the early 90's. I learned a lot that summer from Simon and loved working backstage.
The next season I was asked to stage manage "A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline." Simon and Glo saved my life during those precious years at HCP. I am forever greatful to them.
Sorry for you loss Simon and family.

I am so sorry to hear about Gloria. She had an amazing life. I know that she loved helping the feral cats. We had that in common. My thoughts go out to Simon and her family.

I first met Glo in Sudbury in 1990. She was a great stage manager; got the job done, but always with a sense of humour. I can still see her on that stage warning the students in the audience that if they threw one more penny onto the stage, the performance would be cancelled. They did and it was. After she started working in Grand Bend, she often hired me to play auditions. The most memorable occasion was at the old Equity Showcase on Dufferin Street in Toronto. It was January, -20°C, the heat had gone off in the building and the glass in one of the windows was broken. Glo was NOT pleased. We laughed about it after. I always enjoyed seeing her in Grand Bend at the theatre and was so impressed when she changed careers to become a 911 operator. I'm certain she was as accomplished at that as at everything else she did. Condolences to Simon, Leisa and the family. John Hughes
