Obituary of ANNE JANE PHINN

PHINN: Anne Jane Phinn, formerly of Grand Bend and Ancaster, died at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, April 13, 2017 due to complications with pneumonia. Born on October 7, 1928 to Herb and Fernie (nee Chambers) Brown of London, Ontario. Anne was predeceased by most of her family; husband Ted; daughter Ellen; son Roric Ryan; mother Fernie; father Herb; sister Joyce “Tigger” Dean and nephew Kelly. She is survived by her son Tory and his wife Faye of Winnipeg, grandchildren Eli, Joel, Gen, Deanna and Derek, Krista and Adam and 3 great-grandchildren Malachi, Quinn and Laya. Anne Jane was the epitome of strength and uniqueness, a brae bonny lass, with an unassailable optimism for life. She had an unquenchable curiosity for all things. Her love of animals was obvious as she fed all the stray cats, skunks, raccoons, crows and squirrels in the neighbourhood. Her dog, Sable, has a large personality much like her own. Due to the untimely death of her husband, Anne, at age 39, was left to raise 3 children on her own. She gathered her strength and soldiered on with clarity and purpose. Her pride was her farm, her sand pit operation, real estate and politics. Her vibrancy and zest for life led her to become a crack shot, an avid golfer and tennis player. She also loved poetry, a good glass, friends and the Toronto Blue Jays. Anne decided to leave this world, hence the Jays poor start to the season and hopefully they can turn things around. Resting at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, on Monday, April 17, 2017 with visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by the service. Interment Bethesda Cemetery, 542 Garner Rd. W., Ancaster at 2:30 p.m. If desired, memorial donations (payable by cheque) to the Humane Society or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
