Obituary of Wm. "Casey" Cornelius VandenBygaart

VandenBygaart, William “Casey”: Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Country Terrace Nursing Home, Komoka, William “Casey” VandenBygaart in his 88th year. Dearly loved husband of Anne (nee deJong) for 60 years. Cherished father of Harriet (Bill Potters), Ellen (Ron Lakusiak), Bill (Jacqui), Trish (Dave Petersen), Bob (Anita) and Bert (Liz). Adored Opa of Lindsay (Chris Tansey), Mike, Mark and Meghan Potters; Mike, Chris, Garret, and Trevor Lakusiak; Cole, Lauren and Taylor VandenBygaart; Rush and Annie Petersen; Beck and Nyall VandenBygaart; Hannah, Ava, and Tyler VandenBygaart. Wonderful great-Opa to Hailey and Hannah. Casey is also survived by his sister, Gerry, as well as many nieces and nephews. Casey was born November 20, 1929, in Oisterwijk, the Netherlands and moved to Canada in 1954 with $29.00 in his pocket. Casey was a life-long nature lover, enjoying his 29 year career at Pinery Provincial Park. He loved learning, teaching and talking about birds and trees, but above all, he loved chocolate. Casey spent many years selling fresh eggs and Christmas trees from his home in Grand Bend. The family would like to thank the wonderful, compassionate staff at Country Terrace, who cared for and loved Casey like family. He will be deeply missed. A Visitation will be held at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 3-7 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Grand Bend on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11 a.m. Rev.
