Obituary of WILLIAM LEE HARVEY

HARVEY: It is with heavy hearts and great sadness the family announces the passing of an amazing soul mate, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William (Bill) Lee Harvey, in his 89th year. Bill left us on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter. He was born in Woodstock on November 18th, 1927 and retired in Grand Bend in 1982. Bill was the loving companion to Shirley Andraza, caring father to Bill Harvey and Mark and Kathy Harvey, grandfather to Jodie, Kelly and Matthew and several great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by his extended family, Mark and Mary Andraza, Jason and Patti Andraza, Michelle and Kevin, Jada, McKenna and Ryder. Predeceased by his parents Olive Virginia Lee and Kenneth Peter Harvey, wife Mary Margaret (Emich) Harvey and son Kenneth Harvey. His career for 25 years with the United Co-operative took him to several cities in Ontario, moving to Grand Bend to spend 10 years with the Cooks Division/P&H in Hensall. Bill was a past Chartered member of the Rotary Club of Grand Bend, member of Kinsmen Club of Chatham, member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Grand Bend and Past President and Chairman of the Ontario Grain and Feed Association. He was a competitive curler, fisherman and would meet you anytime on the golf course to demonstrate his avid love of the game. At Bill’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Huron Shores United Church, Grand Bend on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations, payable by cheque to Grand Bend Community Foundation, the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 498 or the Grand Bend Community Health Centre would be appreciated by the family.
