Obituary of John Baker
BAKER: Peacefully, but unexpectedly, at South Huron Hospital, Exeter, Wednesday, January 21, 2009, John Baker of Grand Bend, formerly of Hensall, age 77. Beloved husband of Janice Marlene (Hamilton) Baker. Devoted father and best friend of Brad and Lori Baker, Bryan and Jodie Baker, Becky and Brian Mercer, all of Exeter. Very special grandpa of Jenalyn and Marley Baker, Jonathon, Jarrett and Bryanne Baker, Carly, Cayley and Cullen Mercer. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Bill and Marg Baker, Dorothy Baker, Wanda Wilson, Betty Grenier, Irene Tyndall, Clara and Bill Brown, Gladys and Grant McGregor, Bridgette Baker, Greta Baker and Arnetta Baker. Predeceased by brothers Bob, Bruce, Austin, Murray, Meade, Glen, parents Robert and Clara (Meade) Baker. Cremation. Visitation at the T. Harry Hoffman & Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood, Friday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Grand Bend United Church, Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. Tracey Whitson-Bahro officiating. Private family interment Exeter Cemetery. John served as a councillor and reeve of the Village of Hensall and retired superintendent of the Works Department. He was active in the Hensall Kinsmen, Hensall Presbyterian Church, served on the Volunteer Fire Department and many community organizations.
